The command to explore orders the fleet to send troops on a mission to find valuable scientific information and interesting objects in a celestial body. The celestial bodies that can be explored are the planemo and the asteroid field. If the mission has been successful, the fleet will have obtained interesting scientific information that will be transmitted to the Universal Knowledge Base on Mars. Therefore, the faction will be rewarded with points of prestige.

The reward of points of prestige depends on each type of celestial body. The rarer ones provide more valuable data and have greater rewards than ordinary stars.

The amount of prestige that can be gained by exploring a star is limited. The number of explorations that have taken place on a planet is visible to everyone, but does not indicate whether it has been fully explored.

Mechanics of exploration

All the explode stars have a number of prestige points that are obtained as a reward for exploring 100% of the planet. However, during an exploration it is not known if it has investigated "everything" the planet. The percentage of exploration, and therefore the reward in points of prestige, is determined by three factors:

  1. Ability to scan troops.
  2. Exploration level indicated during the mission.
  3. Luck.

It is also possible to find hidden treasures . A deeper level of exploration can reveal more hidden treasures.

Scan level

There are three levels of exploration. Each level increases the scan time and depth. At a higher level, greater chances of finding something valuable, but also greater risks. Each level of exploration has a duration and allows to investigate a maximum percentage of the celestial body.

type duration maximum scan description
Superficial 12 hours 40% An exploration of the surface of the planet will be carried out without exploring dangerous or difficult places.
Extensive 24 hours 70% An exploration covering the entire area of the planet and investigating relevant or suspicious places to contain something.
Deep 48 hours 100% Investigate cracks, tunnels and hard-to-reach places to increase the chances of finding hidden objects.

Potential hazards

Some stars are dangerous. There are planets with corrosive atmospheres, with unstable soils or high radiation. This danger is determined by the environment of the star. A mission can be aborted if planetary conditions are unfavorable or some accident happens.

Each type of mission has a duration. The longer the mission, the greater the risk that our presence has not gone unnoticed, and increase the chances of being ambushed by the pirates. The level of system pirated activity increases the risk. The ambush may be against the troop group, the fleet, or both.
