Habitats are huge structures the size of small towns where citizens live their lives independently. They have their own life support systems, ordinances, social clubs, etc ... in exchange for living in these cities, citizens pay taxes to the faction that controls the base.
The first orbital stations were placed in Earth orbit throughout the 21st century. Since then, they have grown in size and complexity to reach incredible levels.
